Abstract:
The Point No Point Treaty Council received the georeferenced United States Coast & Geodetic Survey Topographic Sheet from the University of Washington Puget Sound River History Project. The data is available for download at <http://riverhistory.ess.washington.edu>. The scanned images were obtained from the National Archives and Records Administration. The Point No Point Treaty Council digitized the map features at the 1:2,000 scale or greater. The final data is stored as Arc/GIS geodatabase feature classes, and shapefiles are available online at <http://www.pnptc.org>.
Purpose:
The data was developed as part of the Point No Point Treaty Council's assessment of historical changes in shoreline habitat of Hood Canal and Strait of Juan de Fuca. The data is intended for comparison of historical and current habitat data to detect alterations to estuaries and coastlines.

Georectified by choosing eight hard points (points, shoreline direction changes, fencelines that are now road intersections) on DNR digital orthophotos and matching to same places on image of t-539. Caution should be exercised in the use of this t-sheet since the accuracy of the georectification may be less than what has generally been achieved within this project.
